Frequently Asked Question: How Long Will My Case Take?

On Behalf of | Dec 15, 2021 | Car Accidents

This is part 7, out of 7, of our blog series about frequently asked questions for car accidents in North Dakota.

How long will my case take?

It may only be six or seven months before we reach a settlement on your behalf.  More often, it will take two or three years after the date of your accident or injury to resolve your case.  The length of your case depends on a number of factors including the severity of your injuries, the length of your medical treatment, how long it takes to get the proper diagnosis of your injury, and whether or not liability for an accident is disputed or accepted.

Is there a time limit in which to bring a claim?

Yes.  Generally, persons injured in a motor vehicle accident have six years from the date of the accident to serve the at-fault driver with a lawsuit.  It’s best to contact an attorney as soon as possible to avoid missing your statute of limitations.
